Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival NY 2016

On Sunday July 17th, 2016 clouds of smoke filled the air in Queens, NY and delicious aromas were everywhere, as the chefs cooked up some authentic caribbean cuisine at The 6th Annual Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival New York at Roy Wilkins Park.
There were lots of exciting moments during the food festival, as hundreds of people lined up to taste delights from the many vendors dishing up everything including; chicken, goat, pork, fish and even Jerk Ice Cream which was a hot topic of the event’s guests.
Then there was the celebrity demonstrations and cook-off contests hosted by Chef Irie Spice. Featuring top chefs like Food Network Chopped Champion Chef Andre Fowles and Miss Jamaica World Sanneta Myrie who won the Celebrity Quick Fire challenge. The winner was judged on thier creativity, presentation, culinary skills and organization.
New York’s Biggest Caribbean Food Festival had something to offer the whole family. Encouraging a fun family day they gave kids under 12 free admission and a special area called the Kidz Zone with rides, games and more. All around the park you could find happy people, enjoying a summer day with friends, family and loved ones.
And of course there was music and more music! Lots of great live performances by Reggae and Soca superstars like Ikaya, Rupee, Dexta Daps, Gyptian and the legendary Reggae Ambassadors Third World. The main stage was hosted by NY Caribbean radio heavyweights, Dubbmaster Chris from Irie Jam and Dahved Levy Mr “Rocking You, Rocking You” from Caribbean Fever 107.5 FM WBLS. Jabba from Hot 97 and Platinum Kids also turned up the fire between sets. Read more and see more photos here.
