Barbie Fashionistas Wins Toy Of The Year

Mattel recently received the Toy of the Year (T.O.T.Y.) award in the “Doll of the Year” category for Barbie Fashionistas. Three new body types, curvy, tall and petite, with new skin tones, hair types and numerous fashion styles make the Barbie Fashionistas line one of “the most diverse doll line to date.” The award was presented on February 17, 2017 in New York at the Toy Industry Association’s Annual T.O.T.Y. Awards Gala.

Happy Birthday Barbie

March 9th is the birthday of Barbie and the anniversary of the day the doll was debuted at the American International Toy Fair in New York in 1959. It is estimated that over a billion Barbie dolls have been sold worldwide in over 150 countries. Barbie was created by Ruth Handler and her full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts. Her boyfriend Ken Carson was released a few years later in 1961. #NationalBarbieDay
