Viola Davis Wins Outstanding Lead Actress In Drama Series
Viola won her first Emmy Award for playing Analise Keating in the hit TV series How to get Away With Murder and also became the First Woman of Color to receive the Lead Actress Award in Emmy history as she delivered her acceptance speech she quoted and gave tribute to Harriet Tubman speaking of getting over that line. Then stating “the only thing that separates Women of Color, from anyone else, is opportunity. You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there”
Julia Louis-Dreyfus Wins Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series
Julia wins her 4th consecutive Emmy and takes the stage as she started her acceptance speech with a quote from the political satire show Veep for which she won stating “What a great honor it must be, for you to honor me tonight.” Then she went on to further joke and say “oh wait, I’m sorry … Donald Trump said that.”
Ricky Gervais “Winning” Moment
Ricky on stage to present the award for best joked about his nominations and decided to create his own Emmy moment as he joked about people seeing him talking with Ryan Seacrest on the Red Carpet and taking pictures then called for a “Emmy girl“ to bring out one of the statutes and he posed with it and told the audience “now tweet that”
