NEW DISCOVERIES AT TECH DAY NY 2018
On a bright sunny day in New York City, thousands of people converged at Pier 94 for the annual Tech Day New York. Lines were packed, yet they moved swiftly. We arrived to check out some of the newest and best people, and technology at the US’s largest startup event. We looked, talked and listened and here are some of our favorite discoveries.
We spoke with Neha from Vertoe and were delighted to hear of their service which can be beneficial for travelers on vacation or people just in the city who need a place for short-term storage of luggage or baggage. It can serve as a lifesaver for professionals who don’t want to carry certain equipment around with them all day long when not using it.
What Vertoe does is help provide storage for anyone to store their bags or items at nearby local shops that have space. They have 100+ locations and provide insurance and tamper proof safety seals, For more info check out vertoe.com
We also spoke with Ann of Edible Education as she was adding icing to the cupcakes and Chef Quincy was serving them to patrons while introducing them to their Kitchen A La Cart. She explained to us their mission and more about the interactive mobile culinary cart which is America’s first. It helps make it easy for students to develop skills like reading, math, and teamwork through food prep.
We found it very interesting and beneficial that their curriculum highlights nutrition facts and helps to show smart food choices that can help to have a healthy and productive life. For more information visit www.edibleedu.com
We spoke with Marcus of Make Music Count who gave us a demonstration of the new version of his app, which helps people learn math like Algebra and piano playing at the same tIt hass has songs that people can have fun with playing and learn math more simply by playing. And who doesn’t love music and playing? For more info check out www.makemusiccount.com
Another interesting discovery is Temi the Robot introduced to us by Danny who demonstrated a few of Temi’s key features. This little robot followed us, took directions from us, executed them and even took a few photos of us as we chatted and learned more about him. This robot assistant is powered by voice and able to see and display things for you. It plays music, connects to your devices and allows hand free use, which can be really valuable to assist you while being human. For more information check out www.robotemi.com
Rounding out our Top 5 is App-App which at first sounds like what? Then Nick explained to us it’s an appetizer app that gets you a free appetizer every day from any of their partner restaurants in NYC. This definitely sounds like an interesting idea. Who doesn’t love food? For more information check out www.app-app.com
Overall Tech Day 2018 in New York was a great experience discovering lots of new technology, entrepreneurs and startups as well as current leaders in the industry talking and participating. We spoke with people at Cliff Bars who gave us more information on Bike Month NYC and let us try some of their new flavors like Peanut Butter Banana with Dark Chocolate and Peanut Butter & Honey with Sea Salt which is delicious.
We sampled the tasty Wandering Bear cold brew coffee. Chatted with the guys at Pad Link about their mission of making housing for college and university students simple and reliable. Of course, we stopped by Go Daddy to pick up some insights and take a few photos at their vibrant booth with great lighting. We’re looking forward to tech Day NY 2019 at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC on May 2nd and seeing what’s new and hot. We hope to see you there for more information on Tech Day visit techdayhq.com
