Happy Birthday Grandmaster Flash

It’s January 1st and we wish Grandmaster Flash a very Happy Birthday.

Flash is the “The first DJ to make the turntable a musical instrument.” and a Bronx, New York native. “He was the first DJ to physically lay his hands on the vinyl and manipulate it in a backward, forward or counterclockwise motion, when most DJ’s simply handled the record by the edges, put down the tone arm, and let it play.” Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007 by Jay Z becoming the first hip hop/rap artists to be so honored.
